Speaking: Small Talk and Social English
Small talk and social English is the A2 speaking skill that fills queues, lifts, waiting rooms, and casual social moments. The worksheet covers the topics that work as small talk (weather, sport, travel, the journey, the venue) and topics that don’t (politics, religion, salary, family politics). Learners build the social-comfort fluency every traveller, student, and worker needs.

Common challenges: Topic appropriateness varies across cultures — questions about salary, marital status, age that are normal in some cultures are off-limits in English-speaking small talk.
